Hi Jane

From my knowledge this is a bit of an old wives tale, just had a quick look on Google, and generally speaking appears to be the case unfortunately.

Not long after I was diagnosed I saw these bracelets on a market stall. I was reading all of the literature that was there and the lady selling them started talking to me. She gave me all the sales talk about them (they were expensive £90 and that was in 2008), on about how they alter the flow of blood to the joints etc etc. I didn't buy one and on my next appointment with my consultant I asked him about them. He just said to try one if I wanted to do, but not buy an expensive one. I got the impression that he didn't think they worked. Lets face it, if they did do what they claim to do the NHS would give us one and save millions of pounds.

Some time later husband and myself were shopping and he fell for all of the sales talk. He's got OA in his knees. She said she had RA and she noticed the difference immediately and wouldn't be without hers. She also told a story of a gentleman who had Raynaud's (spelling ?) and the moment he put it on his wrist the colour just started to appear in his hands..............a miracle indeed????? Anyway he bought one, wanted to buy me one, kept telling him it was a waste of money, Well, I was right and he was wrong.

They sometimes discuss this on the arthritis care forum and after reading what people have put on there, the majority of them think that they are a waste of money. I do think that the are suppose to be for OA and not RA.

Laugh Thank you for replying!
I saw a copper bangle on help4hero website, decided to get your opinions first. I won't bother!!

I will keep my pennies!

When we went to bath and west show, there were some dodgy stands claiming to flog arthritis, gave a wide berth!!
